Chiang Mai is also known for its markets, of which there are many. Among the best are the Sunday Market, where you can find just about anything, and Worouot Market, which is a haven for food lovers.

Chiang Rai is Thailand’s northernmost province, and is spectacularly located beneath the Mekong river. The Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet, lies 55km from the city. Visitors flock to the Golden Triangle to experience a more authentic side to Thailand then can be found in many other parts. There are lots of interesting activities to discover in this part of the country, including elephant conservation activities, hiking, wildlife viewing, and discovering the ancient cities along the banks of the Mekong.
